About the Department

The Department of Botany is committed to providing quality education and fostering a scientific understanding of plant life, biodiversity, and the environment. It offers students a foundation in areas such as plant diversity, taxonomy, anatomy, morphology, physiology, genetics, ecology, microbiology, biotechnology, and plant pathology. Through classroom learning, experiments, field visits, seminars, workshops, and projects, students develop scientific temper, observation, analytical, and research skills. Emphasis is on plant–environment interactions, biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource use, climate change, and ecological importance. The Department encourages exploration of recent advances in plant sciences and their applications in agriculture, healthcare, biotechnology, environmental management, and sustainable development. Research and practical activities help connect theory with real-world issues. The Department promotes environmental conservation and ecological balance awareness, preparing students for careers in teaching, research, agriculture, biotechnology, forestry, and environmental sciences. Through academic excellence, practical training, research, and environmental awareness, it aims to develop environmentally responsible, socially conscious individuals committed to biodiversity conservation and sustainable growth.
