The Sen Group pioneered the cause of non-missionary women's education in Uttar Pradesh, beginning in 1898. Dr. Surendra Nath Sen, a social reformer, established this legacy, with successive generations continuing the mission.

S.N. Sen B.V. Post Graduate College was established in 1953 and now spans nearly seven decades of service. The college provides postgraduate degrees in Hindi and Sociology, along with undergraduate degrees across Arts and Science disciplines. Arts offerings include subjects such as Sanskrit, Philosophy, History, Psychology, Political Science, Music, Drawing & Painting, Physical Education, English, Economics and Education. Science programmes include Zoology, Botany and Chemistry.

Seven job-oriented vocational courses were launched in 2019-20, including M.A. programmes in Education, Psychology, Drawing & Painting and Economics; B.C.A.; B.Com.; and B.A. Home Science. The college's guiding philosophy is that only proper education can ensure employment, positioning career development as central to women's financial independence and empowerment.
